Absolute Poker Review

Even though Absolute Poker is a mid-sized poker room, they do get above average player traffic, partly driven by the fact that they still accept U.S. players and partly by the generosity of their promotions system and rake back offers.

Traffic

There are around 15,000 players at Absolute at peak hours, even though not all of these guys play the at the real money tables. This means however, that you’ll never have a problem in filling up your SNG (sit and go) table and that table selection won’t cause you headaches either. You’ll need to make full use of it too, if you intend to find a game that provides good value. Most of the guys playing here aren’t newbies and some of them might even teach you a thing or two strategy-wise. Don’t be alarmed though, not all of them are like this. Take your time, hang around the table you intend to sit down to and watch the game unfold. There are fish here too, only it takes a bit of skill to find them.
If loose games are what you’re after, experts would probably recommend that you go to a room which is part of an online-casino and sportsbook operation.

Software

Graphics-wise the Absolute software won’t disappoint, though it lacks a few features which can be pretty annoying for serious players: for one, the mini table views you use when multi-tabling are not re-sizeable. That means you’ll have to do an awful lot of switching back and forth between different windows. Not exactly the most convenient way to multi-table.

The software is often updated though, so it is possible they’ll eliminate this issue in the near future. If you’re one of those scientific players who takes his sport very seriously, you’ll be glad to know that the Absolute software is Poker Tracker compatible, so you’ll be able to analyze all your moves and hand history subsequently.

There are multiple deck colors available too, so if you do a lot of multi tabling, you won’t get confused and you’ll find it easier to distinguish between tables.

Bonus

Talking about multi-tabling: you’ll probably have to do a lot of that here. Absolute offers quite a generous sign-up bonus, so you’ll have to work a lot (generate a lot of rake by participating in a lot of raked hands) in order to have it released. Absolute Poker gives you 150% match bonus on your first deposit up to $500. That’s right. These guys aren’t kidding when it comes to luring players to their room.
The good news is that you’ll be able to redeem your bonus in $10 increments, so you’ll be able to get your hands on some of your money without having to release all of the bonus.

Tournaments

Tournament action is pretty hot at Absolutepoker, and as it usually happens, most of their players are seated at tournament tables. Some of these tourneys feature interesting prizes to say the least. Another interesting plus Absolute will surprise you with is the fact that you can buy into NL games for the equivalent of 200 Big Blinds. Since we all know how important it is to play NL properly bankrolled, the importance of this feature cannot be underestimated.

Because of the fact that they’re U.S. friendly, Absolute poker is bound to draw in more American players, who were driven out of most other online poker sites. This will not only lead to increased player traffic, but hopefully to altogether looser games as well.
