About Unibet

Unibet Poker is a new presence on the Microgaming network but it is in fact a rather old industry player. It started offering online poker services back in 2004, mostly to European players. Its European-oriented nature came in handy when the UIGEA came rolling in, in 2006. Unibet Poker managed to retain the biggest part of its player base and thus survive the hard times without taking a significant hit.
The poker room gets excellent traffic, it provides all sorts of features to aid multi tabling, and it is available in 12 languages.
The game diversity is good too, and the software is also frequently updated to keep it in line with the latest requirements.

Player Traffic

As I stated above, the UIGEA – which caused so many high profile online poker rooms to lose huge chunks of their player base, had little effect on Unibet’s traffic.
There are around 1,400-2,000 real money players at their cash tables in peak hours, mainly focused on the Texas Holdem, low to medium limits.
Another variant that gets surprisingly good player traffic is 5-Card Draw.
Peak hours usually see around 10,000 tournament players. The loosest tourneys are the ones which cost less than $10 to enter. As far as cash games go, the 6 max turbo games feature flops viewed percentages of around 55%. At 10-handed cash tables, the flops seen percentage is around 40%.

Software

If you’re looking for a visually appealing interface, Unibet is not the poker room for you. The accent here is on functionality and different statistics, features which apparently come at the expense of graphics. There are no player avatars. The Microgaming software is excellent as far as stability and speed goes. The featured statistics are the industry standard ones, like flops viewed, stack sizes, average pot sizes etc. Individual players can view their statistics at all times as they’re displayed during play. These statistics include flops viewed, showdowns viewed, winning percentages etc.
Players can take notes about their opponents, and hand histories work well within the software but they can be exported as well.
Multi tabling is supported via the addition of the mini table view option. Tables can be opened simultaneously both in cash and in tournament mode.
The software stays stable and fast even when all 5 tables are open. There is a no-download flash version available at Unibet’s site too.

Unibet Poker’s sign up bonus is a $750 flat one, for which players need to earn 6,000 VIP Points. The bonus lands in your real money account as soon as you obtain the necessary VIP points, in four batches.
The first batch of $187.5 (€125) lands in your account as soon as you accumulate 1,500 VIP points. The second batch is unlocked after 3,000 VIP Points, the third batch after 4,500 VIP points and the fourth and final batch after 6,000 VIP points.
The VIP Points are earned by playing in real money raked cash game hands or by paying tournament fees. For every $1 paid out in tourney fees, players get 3 VIP Points. For every raked hand, depending on the amount of the generated rake, there are 0.5-1.5 VIP points awarded.
Unibet Poker does not feature reload bonuses but it does give you $50 for every friend that you refer.

Promotions

The above described VIP point scheme is one of the promotions Unibet aims at keeping its players loyal. Unibet’s Poker Club makes it possible for players to spend their hard-earned VIP points in lucrative ways. They can buy into tournaments with them, or spend them on merchandize. Depending on how much they play, the VIP points that players earn will be multiplied by 2, 3 or 4.
The Desperado promotion gives players the possibility to win daily prizes in high-prizepool low buy-in tournaments with unlimited buy-ins during the first two hours.
Besides the online action, Unibet is also involved in the live poker scene. The Unibet Open Warsaw takes place in December and will feature an estimated prize pool of almost half a million Euros.
Direct access qualifiers run at Unibet, as well as a host of sub-satellites to facilitate low buy-in entries.

Support

Unibet’s support is excellent. Reachable via email and phone, the support staff is friendly and efficient. Phone support is available in 12 languages further underlining the European orientation of the site.
