About

One of the largest members of the extremely popular iPoker network, CD Poker is known as an online poker room which offers plenty of loose action. It gets its fair share of casino players, hence the looser nature of the competition.
An obviously European oriented poker room (CD Poker doesn’t accept US players), CD Poker is available in 12 languages. They also feature excellent SNGs and a strong MTT schedule. The company behind CD Poker is WHG International Limited and the room operates under a license issued by the government of Gibraltar.
The software that the room runs on is provided by Playtech Software limited, one of the best known online poker and online gambling software manufacturers.
Transaction security and gaming fairness are two of the most important issues the operation focuses on. CD Poker has various systems in place to efficiently filter out player fraud as well as underage gamblers.

Player traffic

CD poker does not accept US players, and its traffic is therefore somewhat limited. They are a member of a very potent network, which means that during peak hours traffic is in fact excellent. The problems arise outside of peak hours.
At peak hours, they get an impressive number of cash game players: around 10,000, however most of this traffic is focused on the Texas Holdem tables.
Tournament traffic is much larger of course: they get around 50,000 tournament players at peak hours, probably due to the excellent low buy-in tournament action that they provide. Games at CD Poker are generally loose: at the low buy-in Holdem tables around 40-50% of players see the flop time and time again. As you move up the limits though, games gradually tighten up and skill takes up a bigger role.

Software

CD Poker’s software features nice, crisp and clear graphics, it is extreme stable and fast. Still, there’s a problem as far as the speed of the games is concerned. Because of the long waiting times that players have at their disposal to make their move, games tend to be much slower than what other poker rooms offer. The software itself is fast, the games are slow.
The statistics are the usual ones, there’s not much point in going into details on them. CD Poker does have an excellent and useful little extra feature: the graphic hand history which allows players to check back on the hands they played directly in the action ticker. Multi tabling is available at 16 tables simultaneously, and the software doesn’t stagger when you turn them all on. A mini view function is also available.
The graphics interface (which has only a few types of avatars) can be customized in a variety of ways. The sound can be turned off, which is great especially considering the fact that it can become rather repetitive and annoying in time. The software also supports automated PokerTracker imports.

Sign up bonus

CD Poker Bonus
Get 150% Sign Up Bonus up to $500 for New Players

The bonus that CD Poker offers on your first deposit is a 150% match up to a maximum of $500. Only players who never had an account at CD Poker are eligible for this bonus. The bonus is released as players play in real money cash or tournament hands. CD Points are generated by all players who take part in a hand, regardless of how much they contribute to the pot or whether or not they contribute at all.
Depending on how much rake a hand generates, players will earn CD Points. The minimum is 0.25 CD points, which are awarded for $0.10/$0.24 in rake. The most CD Points a player can earn off a hand are 10 and they are awarded for more than $2.76 in generated rake.
For each dollar paid in tournament fees, players earn 15 CD points.
The bonus is unlocked and transferred to players’ real money accounts in $10 increments. Each such $10 batch requires 1,200 CD points to be redeemed. Payment will not be made on partial CD point earnings. Players have 90 days to redeem as much of their bonus as they can, after that, they’ll have to forfeit the rest.
Depending on the VIP level that they reach, players will be able to generate CD points faster and thus to redeem bonuses faster too.

Promotions

CD Poker does offer some good value promotions, though I would’ve expected more of them in this respect. The sign-up bonus I detailed above is not the only thing welcoming new players upon sign-up. New depositors will also get 2 Freeroll tokens which will give them access to a couple of $1,000 New Depositors freerolls. These freerolls represent an excellent way to boost your bankroll early on, and they offer relatively good EV too given that you’ll be playing against other beginners like yourself. CD Poker does offer monthly reload bonuses as well. To qualify for such a bonus, a player needs to redeem all his first deposit bonus and he has to make at least another deposit.
Reload bonuses are redeemed the same way sign-up bonuses are: through real money play.
Special CD Poker bonuses are: the ‘bad beat bonus’ and the ‘best hand of the day’ bonus.
Players will be able to earn extra bonuses by referring their friends. The promotion offers the referred friend an extra $50 bonus as well.
The Spring Cash Dash is basically a rake race, which will distribute $550,000 among the players who generate the most CD Points at the cash tables during a month’s time. Spring Cash Dash leader boards can be checked live at CD Poker’s site.

Support

iPoker rooms all feature excellent support and CD Poker is not an exception either. Support is reachable through email, phone, and most importantly: through live chat as well. Replies are fast and efficient… there’s really not a whole lot to say about it other than: great!
