Outside of Macau, baccarat isn't exactly the most widely-played casino game in the world. In fact, the majority of people think that it's mainly a game for the wealthy and elite. And while it may be difficult to judge exactly how popular baccarat is worldwide, those who do play it have developed a number of myths over the years. This being said, let's take a close look at these myths and see if there's any factual basis behind them.

Myth #1: Focus on Past Results to win more

Perhaps the biggest baccarat myth is a belief that players can win more money by tracking past results. For example, if you notice that the player hand has won six times in a row, you might consider betting on the player once again since this wager is on a hot streak. However, the truth is that the past doesn't indicate future results and so streaks have no bearing on how likely a hand is to win.

Myth #2: Card Counting can earn you a lot of Money

Much like blackjack, those who count cards in baccarat can gain an advantage over the house. But the only problem is that this edge is so tiny that even the best baccarat card counters can only make a few dollars a day. Taking this into account, it's just not worth most people's time to be a baccarat counter.

Myth #3: Only High Stakes Baccarat is Available

In the introduction, we discussed how baccarat is stereotyped as a game for the elite. So it's no wonder why there's an existing myth that suggests you can only find high stakes baccarat. But this isn't true at all because there are opportunities to play low stakes baccarat - especially online. With online baccarat, you can bet as little as $1 per hand, which is really cheap!

Myth #4: The Banker Bet House Edge is always the same

As many baccarat players know, the banker bet house edge is normally only 1.06%. This definitely gives people an excellent chance to make profits! However, what many players don't realize is that the baccarat house edge can actually be lower than 1.06%. Now it's not a lot lower, but when you find single deck baccarat, the casino edge is 1.01%. So if you can find single deck games anywhere, make sure to take advantage of them.

Myth #5: Betting Systems work in this Game

One final myth we'd like to bust is the idea that betting systems can help you beat baccarat. Just like any other casino game, there are a group of people who believe systems can help them overcome the house edge. However, no wagering systems have ever been proven to beat baccarat so don't fall for this idea.
