Atlantic City is buzzing with excitement over the fact that the $2.4 billion Revel Casino just secured a license. The casino license comes at a very fortuitous time because Revel is set to open in just one week on April 2nd, 2012. When it officially welcomes visitors, Atlantic City Revel will become the city's 12th casino - and perhaps its most popular casino too.

All the Amenities

In the past, the Borgata has been Atlantic City's most impressive establishment when it comes to sheer size and amenities. However, this figures to change when the public gets a glimpse of Atlantic City Revel. The 6.3 million square-foot features 1,898 hotel rooms, a rooftop botanical garden, ancient Roman bathhouses, 10 pools, two nightclubs, 14 restaurants and a 5,050-seat theater. Based on everything that's being offered here, Revel figures to compete with any casino resort in the world when it comes to amenities.

Fight for Survival

When looking at the spectacle that is Atlantic City Revel, one of the most fascinating aspects is that this casino resort almost didn't happen. Morgan Stanley decided to halt the project, and accept a $1.2 billion loss a few years ago amid the American recession. But with the help of the New Jersey state government and J.P. Morgan, Revel's construction resumed and was finally completed.

A New Experience

Despite the lengthy completion time, many people expect that Atlantic City Revel will be well worth the wait. And the reason why is because this casino is bringing a whole new experience to the city. As Revel CEO and President Kevin DeSanctis said, "We’ve convinced people for 30 years that if you’re not a gambler, you can’t come here. We want to convince them you can. We’d love to have you."

With vibrant nightclubs, fine dining at every turn, and plenty of pools, Atlantic City Revel will certainly appeal to a wide variety of people. Furthermore, it could go a long ways towards helping the struggling Atlantic City overall.
