PokerStars.com is proud to offer a wide variety of multi-table tournaments in all games. And by popular request, Poker Stars are happy to offer pot-limit and no-limit play money side games in addition to standard structured-limit games.

If a game is full, you can request to be put on the waiting list for any game.

No matter what game you decide to play, you will always be playing against real people. Your fellow players may live down the street or halfway around the world, but they are playing on their own behalf. At Poker Stars, you are never playing against the house.

Please take a moment to look over Poker Room Rules page.

GAME LIMITS

Poker Stars.com is proud to offer real-money poker at limits from $0.50/$1.00 to $20/$40. In addition, Poker Stars has play-money games which are absolutely free to play.

MINIMUM BUY-IN

The minimum buy-in at any Poker Stars table is ten times the amount of the bet on the lower betting rounds. For example, the minimum buy-in for a $10/$20 game is $100.

ALL-IN

When a player puts the last of their chips into a pot, that player is said to be all-in. An all-in player is not eligible to win any money bet above their final bet. The excess part of the bet is either returned to the bettor, or used to form a side pot with another player or players who matched the amount bet. There is no limitation on the number of side pots. However, the all-in player will be eligible for the main pot, and therefore cannot be forced from the hand.

Sometimes a player has enough chips to continue betting or calling but has been disconnected and unable to respond. In this case the player is also deemed to be "all-in" for all the amount of chips he has bet on this particular hand. If this happens repeatedly, it probably means your Internet connection is poor. We therefore recommend that you stop playing for a while, and wait until your Internet connection improves.

If a player failed to act within the allotted time (usually 30 seconds) while being connected, the hand is folded and a corresponding message sent to a player by email explaining the system action.

NO ALL-IN TABLES

These tables are identified by the words "no all-in" in parentheses after a table name. These tables do not provide the all-in protection described in the section above. If you disconnect from a no all-in table, you are given extra time to reconnect. But if you are unable to respond after that extra time, your hand will be folded. If you have a poor or unreliable Internet connection, PokerStars recommend that you don't play at the no all-in tables.

HIGH SPEED TABLES

These tables are identified by the words "high speed" in parentheses after a table name. These special tables are designed for those players who want to keep the game moving at a faster pace than a standard table. These are the differences with a high speed table:

1) You receive only 15 seconds to act in a Limit game, instead of 25.
2) You receive only 20 seconds to act in a NL/PL game, instead of 35.
3) You only have 1 second to show or muck, instead of 3 seconds.
4) The pot is pushed to the winner faster.
5) The showdown is over faster, in 2 seconds instead of 4.

In addition, "auto-posting" of blinds is required at a high-speed table. When you sit down, you're automatically in "Wait for Big Blind" mode, and will post at your first normally scheduled big blind. If you wish to begin play immediately, uncheck "Wait for Big Blind" and on the next available hand your big blind will be posted and you will be dealt in.

If during the course of play you want to take a break when the blinds reach you, then click on "Sit out next blind". You will continue to be dealt in until the blinds reach you, at which time you will be placed in "Sitting Out" mode.

SERVER CRASH

In the rare event of a server crash, all transactions will be posted to the players accounts at the completion of each hand. When a hand can not be completed, for any reason, all of the players accounts will be restored to the way they where at the beginning of the hand. All bets are considered off and a new hand will be dealt. If a tournament is interrupted by a server crash, the tournament will resume play from the beginning of the current hand.

RAKE

Poker Star receives compensation for hosting poker games by taking a rake, or a small portion (5% to a maximum of $3) of the pot. For detailed information about the rake see our Rake page.
