When many people look at Doyle Brunson, they see a 10-time WSOP champion who's become one of the most iconic players in poker history. But beneath all of the success are a number of hardships that the Texas Dolly has faced throughout his life. And the latest of which involves a fourth bout with cancer.

Bad News

At the beginning of the weekend, Brunson issued some really bad news to his twitter followers when he sent the following tweets:

It was malignant. 4 times I have heard that in my life. Chilling way to start the day. Squamas cell cancer, nothing to worry about.

Tx the support about the cancer. It's a slow growth type that is usually ok But it's something that you had rather not hear.

If you're wondering why Brunson is making his latest bout with cancer sound like nothing to worry about, it's because he's already seen the worst. As a 29-year-old future father with a baby on the way, Doyle was diagnosed with incurable cancer. However, doctors decided to remove a neck tumor just so Brunson could stay alive long enough to see his daughter born.

Despite the doctors' opinion that the cancer had spread too much, they eventually found no traces of the disease. Following this, Doyle would go on to win 10 WSOP gold bracelets and millions of dollars in cash games over the next few decades.

Widespread Support

A large portion of the poker community will be pulling for Brunson to make it through his latest cancer ordeal. Daniel Negreanu, Liv Boeree and Katie Dozier are just some of the players who've sent support to the 79-year-old. Their tweets read as follows:

Daniel Negreanu - @TexDolly normal health rules don't apply to you sir. You'll be 150 and keep doctors shaking their heads cause they can't explain St.Louise

Liv Boeree - @TexDolly Sorry to hear that Doyle. You'll kick its ass in no time! Thinking of you x

Katie Dozier - @TexDolly Sorry to hear this, but you're a fighter and will get through this! :)

With plenty of support behind him, let's hope that Doyle Brunson can make it through yet a fourth battle with cancer and continue playing poker!
