Gus Hansen and Ilari Sahamies are definitely two of the world's best known poker players. Hansen has won over $11.2 million in live tournaments, and Sahamies is one of the game's top online poker cash players. But while these two grinders may be about equal when it comes to fame, they're going in completely opposite directions as far as results go these days. See who's dominating and who's suffering terribly over the past few weeks.

Ilari Sahamies up over $2.5 Million

No high stakes poker pro has been hotter than Ilari "Ilari FIN" Sahamies lately. The Finnish grinder has earned almost $1.2 million in the past two months at PokerStars alone! These profits have been fueled by a couple of separate weeks where he made $1 million. Sahamies has since cooled off, but he's still up over $2.5 million since showing up at PokerStars in early 2011.

Gus Hansen drops over $2 Million

The summer of 2010 was no doubt one of the lowest points of Gus Hansen's life. He'd lost over $9.2 million and was easily online poker's biggest loser. However, he experienced something of a resurgence in late 2010/early 2011 after making $6 million in high stakes PLO games.

Following a 16-month period where Full Tilt Poker lost their license, Hansen was forced to stop playing on the site, which also halted his big win streak. Since the reopening of Full Tilt in November, 2012, the Great Dane has struggled mightily after dropping $2 million in just over a few weeks. Thanks to this latest downswing, Hansen now has $5.28 million in career online poker losses.

Will Hansen and Sahamies continue on their current paths? It's difficult to say, but for Gus, he'll definitely be hoping that things don't keep going the same way.
