The numbers are in, and the 2011 WSOPE is officially the biggest World Series of Poker Europe event ever. For starters, the 2011 installment held the most bracelet events in WSOPE history since seven different poker tournaments offered gold bracelets. Perhaps even bigger than this is that the 2011 WSOPE Main Event featured the most entrants (593) and prize money (€5,692,800) ever.

Elio Fox wins 2011 WSOPE Main Event

Want more numbers? How about the fact that American Elio Fox became the WSOPE's biggest winner in their short five-year span when he walked away with €1,400,000 for winning the Main Event. Of course, it wasn't easy for Fox since he had to survive the aforementioned 593-player field, and a heads-up showdown with the UK's Chris Moorman. But Fox made things look easy as he beat Moorman in just 25 hands, and led the final table from beginning to end.

James Bord forced to eat Words

One of the most interesting side stories going into the Main Event was the fact that British poker pro and 2010 WSOPE Main Event champ James Bord had a strong disbelief that an American could win in 2011. He even went as far as to say, "I don’t think an American can win the bracelet, Europeans are now far superior." He also went out on a limb to back up these statements by saying, "I’m prepared to put my money where my mouth is and refund any losing bets up to $500 if an American wins." Unluckily for Bord, he'll be paying a lot of money out of his own pocket.

How the Women fared

Interestingly enough, female players didn't play as much of a factor in the 2011 WSOPE as in previous years since none managed to make a bracelet event final table. French player Barbara Martinez did win the 2011 WSOPE Ladies Event, but this wasn't a bracelet tournament. Maria Ho was the last woman standing in the WSOPE Main Event, and she busted out in 27th place.
