March saw the launch of PokerStars' Battle of the Planets, and as the sun sets on March and a new one rises on April we can safely say that it gets a big thumbs up. All PokerStars multi-player sit n' go tournaments have been split into eight divisions one corresponding to each planet; Mercury, Mars, Venus, Earth, Neptune, Uranus, Saturn, and Jupiter, and each one is geared towards a different range of stakes. The bigger the planet is, the bigger the stakes are. Therefore if you are playing in a $1.50 tournament you will be playing in the Mercury division, the smallest there is; if you're playing in a $25 tournament you'll be in the Neptune division; and if you're playing in a $400 tournament you're in the giant of the solar system, the Jupiter tournament.

Each division has its own leader board and because of the division it means that even if you're a recreational player, or simply enjoy lower stake games, it doesn't mean that you can't get a piece of the prize. Even within the divisions the stakes are divided into low orbit and high orbit players. The total prize money that will be given away during the first year of the Battle of the Planets is an earth-shattering $3,000,000, which includes the monthly Battle of the Planets triple shootout. Full details are available on the PokerStars site, and with over $50,000 a week being given away, it's better than wishing on a shooting star.
