Purpose of this program

Blackjack 2021 is a statistical Blackjack Real-Time Analyzer designed both for inexperienced and for advanced players. Beginners can develop a feel for the game by playing different hands and understanding the logic of the results. For example, the right play for a player's 6 and 5 against a dealer's 7 is to Double Down. Experienced players can attune their gaming techniques by learning unique plays in various card combinations. A fine example for this is Doubling Down (!) with a player's 5 and 5 against a dealer's Ace (given a certain situation). Blackjack 2021 is a great tool for making the 'Perfect Play' while playing Blackjack. The portability of the Palm(tm) makes it easy to use while playing in an on-line Casino or anywhere else. The following steps refer to playing in an on-line Casino.

Installation

Unzip the 'bj2021.prc' file and HotSync it to your Palm Computing(tm) device (Pro, Palm III, Palm IIIc, Palm IIIxe, Palm V, Palm Vx, Palm VII, Palm m100).

How to Register

Instructions

'Bet?' Button
Check the table rules for playing blackjack in the Casino, set these table rules by pressing 'Options', and then choose 'Set Table Rules'. Before a new hand is dealt, press the 'Bet?' button to know what is the right bet. After pressing the 'Bet?' button two things will happen (it takes a while): Next to the "Bets:" field the number of betting units will appear. Also, next to the "%:" the current playing percentage will appear.
For example: 52.4% means that if you put $100 on the next hand you will win, on average, $4.8. This button will also suggest how much money to bet. For example: If your minimum bet is $5 and the program suggests putting 3 times your minimum bet - you should put $15 as your bet.
Important: Since the Palm processor isn't as strong as the Mac's or the PC's, it takes a while for the results to appear.

'Do?' Button
After placing the bet in the on-line Casino, your cards are dealt. Press the numeric buttons (upper right part of the screen) in order to place those cards in the Player and Dealer boxes. Press the 'Do?' button to know what is the right move and choose Stand / Hit / Split / Double in the on-line Casino accordingly (a '*' appears next to the right move). The numbers represent the average amount of money you could win or lose if you had $10 as your original bet.
For example: If the right move is 'Hit', choose 'Hit' in the on-line Casino, etc. If not busted, press the numeric button according to the card you've just received. Press the 'Do?' button again to know what is the right move. Press on the selection boxes next to the numeric buttons to remove/insert cards to the deck. This is done by using the Palm's 'Scroll Button': To increase the number of cards press up and to decrease the number of cards press down. The numbers to the left of the numeric buttons show how many cards from each type are still in the deck. After the dealer plays his hand (in the on-line Casino) take out his cards by using the Scroll Button on the appropriate cards. If you're playing in a multiple player table, remove the other players' cards by using the Scroll Button the same way. If the game ended and the deck was not reshuffled press 'New Hand' button. If the game ended and the deck was reshuffled press the 'Shuffle' button.
For example: If you have 21 the result for "Hit" would be -10 and for "Stand" something close to +10 (you don't always win with 21).
Important: In case of a "Split": Press the 'New hand' button. This will clear the Player's and the Dealer's cards. Now add these cards to the deck by using the selection boxes and the Scroll Button (add just one of the cards the Player received - the other one is "on the table"). Now give to the Player the previous card and the newly hit card and give the Dealer the card he received previously. This is the first "Split" hand and should be played regularly as described above. Do the same for the second "Split" hand.

'Shuffle' Button
This button will refresh the deck(s). It will also discard all the cards in the display window.

'New Hand' Button
This button discards the previous cards. The only cards that are discarded are those you see in the Player's first two cards (and the hit cards, if there are any) and the Dealer's upcard. If you're playing in an on-line Casino you will need to discard the Dealer's hole card (and the Dealer's hit cards, if there are any) by the selection boxes next to the numeric buttons (by using the Scroll Button).
Buttons labeled: A, T, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
To place the cards to the Player and to the Dealer press the numeric buttons.
The order of the cards dealt is: First to the Player, then to the Dealer and then again to the Player (hit cards).

Selection Boxes
The selection boxes are responsible for removing / inserting cards to the deck. For example: to take out a 'T' (Face Card that equals 10) you will need to select the box to the left of the numeric button 'T' and then press down on the Palm's Scroll Button

Table Rules
Rules can be set to most Casinos in the world and on the Internet.
Important: The Rules you choose will affect the Right Bet and the Right Move. To set the rules go to 'Options' and select 'Set Table Rules'.
Las Vegas Rules - When the dealer shows an ace or a ten as his upcard, he immediately checks for a Blackjack. This means that when the dealer shows a ten, for instance, he doesn't have an ace matching it, otherwise, you had already lost.
European Rules - When the dealer shows an Ace or a Ten as his upcard, he checks for a Blackjack only after the player(s) finished to play. For example, if the player doubles down, he might lose his entire bet if the dealer has a Blackjack at the end of the current round. Therefore, the European rules affect the moves against a dealer's Ten or Ace.
Number of Decks: The number of decks that the Casino plays with. Decks could be set to 1, 2, 4, 6 or 8.
Double Down: Most Casinos allow doubling down on any first two cards. This could be set to: any first 2 cards, only 9,10,11 or only 10,11.
Dealer Stands or Hits on soft 17's: This will affect the percentage of play.
Double Down after Splitting: This determines whether the player is allowed to double down after splitting.
Resplitting of Aces: This determines whether the player is allowed to resplit aces.
Insurance - When you press the 'Do?' button, while the dealer shows an ace, a pop-up window will appear only if you have to take insurance.
Surrender - When you press the 'Do?' button, while the surrender option is on, a pop-up window will appear only if you have to surrender. If the average losing amount is more than half of your bet - the right move will be to surrender.
